7.2.5. sFLCs and intact immunoglobulins are independent tumour markers

An abnormal κ/λ sFLC ratio is not always present in patients with monoclonal intact immunoglobulins, as sFLCs and intact immunoglobulins are independent tumour markers (Section 17.2). For example, an abnormal sFLC ratio is present in around 89% of intact immunoglobulin MM (IIMM) patients, 80% of smouldering MM patients and 33% of monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance (MGUS) patients (Chapters 17, 14, and 13, respectively).
