Things From GSC

[] things from gsc
[] title page

WELCOME TO WIKILITE.COM is indented USE THE LINKS isn't

[] Ch. 1

Table 1 blah has FLC = free light chains right beneath it it looks like part of the legend but it's a different colour either add space or change colour

[] Graham

Figure 4.4 Specificity of κ and λ FLC antisera assessed by interference with the results of typical nephelometric assays upon the addition of various substances. Mean and 95% confidence limits for each added substance are shown. Mean and .. shown are in the wrong colour oh wait unless it's intentional in all these places? cos 4.2 has the same problem

[] Ch.8 doesn't have those nav links at all (but probably a content issue)

[] Ch 7: Fig 7.3
 • isn't aligned properly with the navbar
 • this is only chrome. get a real browser ... like IE ...

[] ch11 looks *weird*

cos 11.1 introduction is above the 3 columns (pic, text, pic) but 11.2 is inline inline in the text I mean is that ok, or d'ya want a screengrab? hmm edit links are all over the shop too 11.2 is aligned with the text 11.4 is crossed out by the line

[] ch12 - see ch12.jpg
 • the edit links in the circle are for all of the subsections preceding it

[] table 12.2's
 • legend is really hard to distinguish from the body text

Normal Tasks

[] now we're approaching going live tidying the system up needs to be done.
 • ✔ 2009-06-24 Ive changed any orphaned pages so they're in the Stefan: namespace, just so its easier to bin them when its all sorted.
 • ✔ 2009-07-07 Need to check file naming conventions - This is good, Amy has kept it all nice and tidy
 • - where possible need to reference css for colours rather than using styles
 • - need to check table borders in other browsers when in work, try old ie, try josie's too as hers seems awkward
 • - XHTML Validation (see other task)

[] Difference in border widths .... take chapter 4, table 4.1 and 4.2 have different widths ... I think thats because the ones I have done specify width in pixels whereas Amy's are using the wiki defaults. - Which do we prefer the look of and I'll adjust things accordingly.
 • ill create a class called 1pxb or try applying it to the entire css for tables
 • wait, there is already one called .xborder
 • also this seems to only show up in firefox, maybe ie is just ignoring it....
 • right so it DOES still have different borders in ie8. Clearly old things not listening to CSS properly. BAD BROWSERS

[] One of the TD’s has commented that it would be good if when you click on a figure and you are taken to a larger version of the figure the legend is on that page as well. This doesn’t seem to be a typical feature of Wikipedia but do you know if that would be possible?

[] On Josie’s PC, on Chapter 25 the lines go through the headings. It is fine on my PC. Could you have a look to see if there something we need to change or if it’s specific to Josie’s PC.

[] I have added the Clinical Case box in Chapter 24 but there is a table in there and I can’t get it to centre align, could you try please?

[] When Josie prints the chapters some of them print in a different font size and don’t print all of the figures. Is there a way to ensure the printing is consistent? ]

[] As from page 93 is broken in IE

[] As from page 115 - Table 13.1 is broken in IE

[] I’ve got another table for you to work on if possible. I tried to do 23.3 myself but Josie scorned my attempt!! You may be able to copy some of it from Chapter 23. In the book it has the alternating infill but don’t worry about that too much. I meant to put on my previous email that Josie would all of the rows in the second column, from with Plasma cell disorders comprising:- to be indented if possible. So that multiple myeloma, AL amyloidosis etc will be indented.

[] When you click on Chapter 7 from the Navigation box the link doesn’t work. I know I created that so I must have done something wrong but I can’t see what’s wrong with it! Could you have a look.

[] PediaPress-esque example

TODO - Done

[] Also, is there anything you can do to stop the text wrapping in the first row of table 24.6?
 • have used a span to get round this rather than the div that amy has used

[2009-07-16] fix these pictures.
 • 11.11 ✔
 • 12.12 ✔
 • 19.3 ✔

[2009-07-16] Design for the title page – I think Josie was going to speak to you about this.
 • ✔ This Page is bananas. B A N A N A S. Mostly done. Waiting for Steph to give me some images
 • <div onclick="location.href='http://www.wikilite.com';" style="cursor:pointer;">ololololol</div>
 • ok, well the above didnt work. just old school links I guess
 • only changes now.

[2009-07-07] Alt tags need sorting... DO IT!!
 • This seems impossible through any sane way
 • It looks like you have to have the whole thing rendered with wiki markup. see 3
 • www.link.com
 • [editing guide for Links and URLs]
 • <a href=link something>lolololol</a>
 • Maybe 4
 • ok, so now i've installed the Tooltip.php extension. That seems to be the only real thing that will give us a popup box
 • tooltipasddddddddddddddasdasd textbody tasdasdasdasdasdext
 • tooltip textbody text
 • Ok, so after ages of playing around with this, it's just a limitation of mediawiki which blocks you from using the full functionality of the <a> tag. Some security think I think. - The best I can do is as it is now so that it gives you the h1 Page title from the pages.
 • I have also written a template for the dates to be used in the format of dateupdated.

[2009-07-16] Add Jo's preface to the main page somewhere....
 • Waiting for the text to come through :)

[2009-07-07] Need to add " - Updated dd/mmm/yy" to the chapter tags in the sidebar
 • This is unfortunately as good as it can be, it is just a little font thing. Ill add a class for 'updated' to save it getting mucked up.

[2009-06-21] On page 105, section 12.11 there is a numbered list and a column opposite, I can’t work out how to set up the spacing, could you have look please?

[2009-06-24] lots of pages
 • deleted a lot a lot of pages that were old and rubishy. The ones I need to keep are now prefixed with Stefan:

[2009-06-24] In chapter 24 there are some borders missing from Josie's IE (7.5.5730.13)

[2009-06-24] On table 23.2 the first few columns are centre aligned, but in the fourth column (k/l Ratio) only the heading is centre aligned. Would you be able to centre align the whole column?

[2009-06-24] On table 23.1 the line in between 1 SPE alone and 90 does not line up with the line in between Protocols and Myeloma, as you can see below. I think I did this table so that’s why it doesn’t line up, can you take a look please.

[2009-06-21] the previous/contents/next box doesnt seem to work properly on some things. ie in chapter 7 where it overlaps a picture
 • ok, so this only happens in chrome.

[2009-06-24] In Chapter 27 some of the lines on the tables are missing, they are tables I have done and look fine in Mozilla but in IE there are lines missing. If you could find out what I’ve done wrong that would be great. If you tell me what to change I could make the changes to all of the tables as I think it’s the same problem for all of them.
 • ive had a look and these all seem sorted ... i think ive done them and just not noted it here.

[] I think you were already working on this but, when the title is long in the boxy bar if it goes onto two lines the second line does not start in line with first line, is it possible to amend it so that they are in line. If I have to left align things I use this tag <div style="text-align: left">, dunno if that helps.

Intact immunoglobulin multiple myeloma (IIMM) - theoretical considerations of sFLC and Ig measurements

[2009-06-21] In Chapter 24 table 24.7 is in the clinical case box and we need it to be centre aligned if possible.

[] update colour pallette with softer, more pastel shades

[2009-06-19] For the Previous, Contents and Next links we would just like it displayed as: Previous Chapter, Contents, Next Chapter. So that Previous Chapter is on the left, contents in the middle and Next on the right.
 • We are going to put a link on each page that links to the previous, next and contents page. Do you think you could design a class type to use for these links?
 • 5
 • Have emailed link to Amy with two different sizes to see what she thinks
 • the big one it is

[2009-06-17] In chapter 27 there are some borders missing from Josie's IE (7.5.5730.13)

[2009-06-17] Could you have a look at another table for me

please? Table 26.1 on page 218. Hopefully that will be the last table!

[2009-06-17] Table 23.1 - double border on right. (ie)
 • using ie and there is no double thing ... actually there is no 23.1 - i assume this was 23.x which ive done / doing anyway so nuts to it.

[2009-06-17] Table 23.3 - double border on bottom.
 • again there was a border of 1px and a border-bottom style applied to all td cells.

[2009-06-17] I’ve got something else to add to your to do list. Can you look at table 23.2 please on page 191.
 • 23.2 had double borders on all the edges, there was a 1px border AND a border-right on each td cell. removed the TD cells - sorted.

[2009-06-17] need to number each chapter, and we know that Jo will say he wants it to look like the book. Therefore would you be able to create the boxes on page xii and both of the boxes on page 1
 • boxybar and the other red boxes, peachy.

[2009-01-01] Chapter 6 also seems to mess up the formatting.

[2009-05-26] On the boxy bar can you increase the font size of the bottom box (Introduction)
 • Done

[2009-05-27] Can you change the font colour of the title in the clinical case box to black..
 • Done

[2009-05-26] remove headers for boxybar

Found this code snippit that should help:

body.page-Main_Page h1.firstHeading {
display:none;
}

The resulting code was similar, just applied to the body element

body h1.firstHeading {
display:none;
}

This seems like a good idea to do. It will stop mediawiki displaying any of the <h1> tags, this means that you wont get the thing at the top showing the pagre name. THis wilkl allow us to have the boxybar for that instead, which will hopefully look neater. Amy agrees.

[] Tables to chapter 15. Focussing on: I know you are setting up a standardised table design but I have come across a few tables that are a little awkward, Table 5.4, 6.2, 9.1, 12.1 and 12.2.

[2009-05-15] I think I have already asked you about the yellow clinical case boxes but I wondering if you think it will be possible to put the figures in the box as well, like they are in the book?
 • [6]
 • ok, so ive created a class for csyb. thats pretty much done, just need to get an image in with a comment on the right to nest neatly inside it, tried nesting a single culumn table inside and that just failed. So think about this.

[2009-05-08] Chapters curvy box thing (the headers)
 • "bubbly curvy thing (square edges, both same length)"
 • boxybar class [7]

[2009-05-06] dot from (ie) page 67 at the bottom
 • This is altcode 0149

[2009-05-06] TD user as read only
 • Have created a user named Td with password specified by Josie

[2009-04-30] On the first table [class type-a] most of the text is left aligned but the headings are centre aligned, could you amend it so that the headings are also left aligned?
 • I have adjusted the css so that type-a th is now left aligned.

[2009-04-29] Chapter 5 has things at the bottom of the page rather than the middle (navbox's/search/etc)
 • After validating with W3C there are 61 errors.
 • First line had a == == on it. Removed and revalidated.
 • Lots of div tags were unclosed. Closed all of them and ees sorted

[2009-04-29] Chapter 4 also seems to mess up the formatting.

[2009-04-28] Problem with Section 2 on the contents page. Staying as redlink=1
 • This looks like it had cached the part of the page. I went in, changed some of the source and then the non-merged ( Section 2 ) version of the page was ok, but the merged version ( Contents ) still didnt work. Ctrl+F5 seemed to refresh it properly and all was well.

[2009-04-28] PDF book style generation with mwlib
 • Need to add a user for remote login / ro for everything - http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:Collection.
 • User has been created for this. User: Hal / S9kSk5mAuZ1 / HAL (The Bot)
 • When Rendering: "An error occured on the render server: Invalid base URL: 'http://www.wikilite.com/wiki' "
 • When try to go to api.php5?action=query&meta=siteinfo <?php require 'api.php';> ... which seems broken, should load api.php
 • They try to access: 85.214.135.240 - - [28/Apr/2009:10:47:58 +0100] "GET /wiki/api.php?action=query&meta=siteinfo&format=json HTTP/1.1" 200 93 "-" "mwlib" 158 483
 • Ok, so it was permissions based. Had to allow read-access to non-logged-in users. It should JustWork™ but doesnt seem to, will check hal for permissions.
 • Argh. It looks like the wiki needs to be publically viewable, despite using $wgCollectionMWServeCredentials. It works then, its just turned off temporarily to keep the wiki under raps.

[2009-04-27] Warning on chaper 4 about sizing (greater than 45kb blah blah)
 • "WARNING: This page is 32 kilobytes long; some browsers may have problems editing pages approaching or longer than 32kb. Please consider breaking the page into smaller sections."
 • This only affects really old browsers like opera 6 and earier, and IE on MAC (old versions) - So really not an issue.

[2009-04-24] Table [class-d] not aligned properly (data need to be <c>)
 • This was pretty much impossible to make work using the auto-alt-colour scheme.
 • Have had just copy and paste the rendered code from View Source to make the table and add the code to center from there.
 • Seems like the doesnt support all of the table features.

[2009-04-24] Things moving when Josie clicks on the Q/A sections
 • This was to do with Josie having ie6.0n. Quite an old version, have upgraded to 7.n and this doesnt happen any more. Problem is from W/L using funky JS and CSS to control the vanishing boxes and stuff.

[2009-04-20] Want to be able to add a book navigation navbox
 • Have added a page in MediaWiki:Sidebar to edit the order and contents of the sidebar.
